Description:
Febuxostat is a urate lowering drug, an inhibitor of xanthine oxidase that is indicated for use in the treatment of hyperuricemia and chronic gout.
Febuxostat received marketing approval by the European Medicines Agency on April 21, 2008 and was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on February 16, 2009.
A study comparing febuxostat to allopurinol found that more individuals treated with febuxostat had decreased levels of uric acid, but there was no difference in the amount of initial gout flares or the surface area of gout tophi.
Function:
1.the allopurinol only have inhibition to reduced the XOR, rather than cloth sutent XOR of oxidation and reduced significantly inhibitory effect, more powerful, durable and its effect in lowering uric acid;
2.because allopurinol is a purine analogues, it is inevitable to affect the metabolism of other enzymes involved in purine and pyridine metabolism.So in allopurinol treatment, you need to repeat a large dose to maintain a high level of medication.It also leads to serious and even fatal adverse reactions caused by drug accumulation.Instead of being a non-purine XOR inhibitor, it has better security.
Application:
The febuxostat tablet is an anti-gout drug. Febuxostat has a significant inhibitory effect on both oxidized and reduced XOR, and therefore its effect of lowering uric acid is stronger and longer lasting, so this product can be used to treat chronic hyperuricemia of gout.
